about me
background
Hi, I'm Raunak. I'm a Solutions Engineer and Data Scientist based in Chicago. Growing up in the SF Bay Area, my environment and upbringing subconsiously drew me towards a career in tech. Being surrounded by people who were building the future made me both curious about where technology was heading and eager to have a hand in shaping it.
what i do
I currently work as a Solutions Engineer at Selector AI, where I develop and deploy AI-powered network observability solutions. I specialize in getting data from point A to point B, cleaning up the mess in between and presenting it in a way that makes sense to users.
My core interests are in AI/ML, data science, and building products that are actually useful to people.
how i got here
"90% of the world's data was created in the last two years"
Upon learning that statistic in high school, it was clear to me that the world was heading towards a data-driven future. My love for obscure sports statistics, a strong foundation in math, and some brief exposure to programming in my AP Computer Science class all led me to pursue Data Science at Purdue University.
I started as an undergraduate researcher at the Purdue Data Mine, where I first got hands-on with real data science tools and problems. From there I interned at the National Institutes of Health doing modeling, automation, and data visualization work, and then at JPMorgan Chase as an AI & Data Science Summer Analyst.
Grad school at UCI gave me the chance to do research at the Design & Partnership Lab, where I worked on NLP-driven theme extraction from student survey data using BERTopic and LLMs.
outside work
I am very active and an avid sports fan. I grew up playing competitive basketball for 10+ years, and continue to play to this day at various gyms, rec centers, and men's leagues.
I like to workout, hang out with friends & family, drink coffee, eat good food, and travel.
